We are proud to announce that Mathias Lecuyer has joined Wiremind as the Head of Research.

As Head of Research, he will define Wiremind’s AI research and development vision, lead and support the research team, and prioritize research directions in line with our product and business roadmaps.

Mathias will also represent us externally by building academic and industry partnerships, and will ensure that our research is clearly communicated and will result in more value for clients.

Regarding his new role, Mathias shared that,

“My goal as Head of Research is to translate academic ideas into practical state-of-the-art AI models that can directly benefit our clients. I believe that through fundamental innovation, we can deliver better performance across several fronts, and solidify Wiremind's position as a technical leader in the field.”

An Academic Joins the Private Sector

Mathias’ experience makes him uniquely suited for this role. After studying Computer Science and AI at École Polytechnique, he earned both a Master’s degree and a PhD at Columbia University in New York, and then completed a postdoctoral fellowship at Microsoft Research.

Mathias has spent the past four years as a Computer Science faculty member at the University of British Columbia, where he leads a research lab focused on developing more trustworthy AI models with rigorous guarantees of privacy, robustness, explainability, and causality.

A Partnership Many Years in the Making

While Mathias is new to Wiremind, his relationship with Wiremind team members has a long history. He first met our CTO and Co-founder, Charles Pierre, while they were both studying at Columbia University.

More recently, during his tenure at UBC, Mathias also collaborated with two Wiremind team members, Thomas Crasson and Yacine Nabet, on a research paper, “Training and Evaluating Causal Forecasting Models for Time-Series”, the findings of which are already being directly applied at Wiremind for our customers.

Elevating Our R&D Efforts

Our CTO and Co-founder, Charles Pierre, commented on the new appointment, saying:

“I am very happy to welcome Mathias to Wiremind. He brings a very rare set of skills and academic knowledge to bridge the gap between research and production, helping us to keep pushing the boundaries of Revenue Management and develop new academic partnerships to position Wiremind as a leader in pricing research and innovation.”

With Mathias joining at a key moment in Wiremind’s growth, the focus now turns to how his research leadership will shape the next phase of innovation for our products and customers.

Research that Delivers Real-World Impact

For Mathias, Wiremind is rare in that it is the kind of company where deep research is directly applied to create real-world impact. He shared his perspective, stating that,

“Wiremind tackles complex technical challenges that combine AI forecasting with automated decision-making to optimize capacity across industries ranging from transportation to entertainment. With a strong technical team and a unique willingness to develop advanced solutions, Wiremind is already delivering market-leading performance and strong ROI for clients.”

With the addition of Mathias to the team, we will continue to build on existing momentum with a coherent innovation strategy across the entire optimization stack, which will ensure that research-based insights and innovation are used to deliver measurable results for our clients.
