WestJet Cargo and Wiremind have embarked on an exciting initiative to enhance capacity forecasting in the air cargo industry. Building on their successful collaboration through SKYPALLET, the two companies have initiated a Proof of Concept (PoC) to explore the potential of advanced capacity forecasting. This new endeavor aims to provide cargo teams with more accurate estimates of cargo capacity, optimizing revenue generation and operational efficiency.

Advancing Capacity Forecasting with AI-driven Solutions

Wiremind’s optimization solution, CARGOSTACK Optimiser, incorporates an Artificial Intelligence-driven capacity forecasting mechanism. Leveraging advanced Machine Learning models and algorithms, this solution offers cargo teams a precise estimate of the remaining cargo capacity available for sale, both for narrow-body and wide-body aircraft. By factoring in non-cargo items such as passenger baggage, fuel, and other capacity-consuming items, Wiremind’s solution provides accurate capacity estimates in terms of payload, volume, and positions. This enables cargo sales teams to make informed decisions and optimize their bookings.

Nathanaël de Tarade, Chief Executive Officer of Wiremind Cargo, emphasizes the importance of accurate capacity forecasting for cargo teams at passenger-heavy airlines. Complementing SKYPALLET for Enhanced Efficiency

The new capacity forecast solution not only improves capacity definition but also complements the existing SKYPALLET solution. By providing a more accurate capacity framework, it enables SKYPALLET to optimize flight bookings more effectively. Future iterations will focus on seamless integration between the two solutions, allowing for automatic reconfiguration of aircraft to an optimal layout, unlocking further efficiencies.
